Minimum criteria to be eligible for JC
Before we look at the JC cut off points, you need to first understand the criteria to enter a JC in Singapore. To be eligible for a place at a Junior College after your O Level examination, then you must ensure that you meet the following criteria:
1. Your L1R5 (First Language + 5 Relevant Subjects) must be lesser than or equal to 20.

Note:
- You cannot use both Higher MTL (such as Higher Chinese, Higher Malay and Higher Tamil) and MTL (such as Chinese, Malay and Tamil) to caluclate for the agregate. For example, if you have use Higher MTL as the first language, then you cannot use MTL as a relevant subject.
- You also cannot use “Merit” and “Pass” grades for the MTL ‘B’ Syllabus (i.e. Chinese ‘B’, Malay ‘B’ and Tamil ‘B’).
2. You must meet the following subjects Grade requirements

Bonus Points
You can be awarded with maxiumum of 4 bonus points for your achievement in co-curricular activities (CCA), language grades and school affiliation. The bonus points can then be deducted from your O-Level gross aggregate score to calculate the net aggregate score. Deducting bonus points from your gross (or raw) L1R5 aggregate score makes it easier to meet the JC cut off points.
